Why We’re Supporting Action Against Hunger

Each quarter we choose a charity to support, raising much needed funds for causes we believe support our mission of Making Life Peachy. Action Against Hunger lead the global fight against hunger, and help more than 21 million people in nearly 50 countries. In 2019, they responded to 37 humanitarian emergencies, and treated more young children for malnutrition than any other charity.

Acute malnutrition is one of the world’s most serious but least addressed problems: 52 million children under five are suffering from the condition in the world today. Severe acute malnutrition is deadly if left untreated and threatens millions of lives each year. For young children, the consequences of acute malnutrition are particularly severe and reach far into the future. Thankfully, new treatments help save lives, identifying, diagnosing and treating children in the communities and providing round-the-clock care in the most urgent of of cases.

AAH create long term sustainable solutions, tackling the root cause of the hunger, and help improve access to good nutrition. From family vegetable gardens, supporting farmers and launching cash-for-work schemes, they help communities have brighter, healthier futures.

Food is a joint love, so supporting AAH as part of our charity plan in 2020, felt like a natural fit. 94p of every £1 goes direct to their programmes and projects, helping eradicate hunger. £1 can provide a day’s worth of life-saving therapeutic food to treat a severely malnourished child, so next time you’re in one of the pubs with a little lose change in your pocket, do pop it in our box on the bar, and together we can help make Lives Peachy.
